Outreach Ministries

We are given a clear mission by Jesus himself to reach out to the lost and alone, the poor and destitute and to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to those who are most needy. Jesus said that he fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah … “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.  He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” (Luke 4:18-19)  As an extension of Jesus ministry here on earth we at Resurrection take James’ admonition to “be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” (James 1:22) very seriously… to that end we invite all to join in our Outreach Ministries.

Iglesia Anglicana de Santa Maria Magdalena

In January 2008 Resurrection partnered with the Anglican Church of Peru to assist the ministry of a fledgling church in Juliaca, Peru on the high plans.  Prior to our assistance Santa Maria Magdalena had a clergy or lay preacher once a month if they were lucky.  Through the hard work of the people of Resurrection they are now able to have services and bible studies weekly at Santa Maria Magdalena.  In addition to financial support we have sent missionaries to Juliaca and will continue to do so along with our letters and emails establishing the personal bonds that flourish in ministry.   For more information check out our blog – www.laluzanglicana.blogspot.com

Casa de los Pobres

Just across the boarder in Tijuana, Mexico we find some of the poorest people in the world.  In an effort to assist those who are hungry Resurrection supports the ministry of Casa de los Pobres (House of the Poor) in Tijuana with weekly collections of food which are delivered to Tijuana and directly support hungry men, women and children. For more information contact the church office or www.friendsofthepoor.us

Kairos Prison Ministry

A very important mission outreach ministry of Resurrection is to the men incarcerated at Donovan State Prison in Otay Mesa, CA.  Through Kairos we join with other churches to sponsor a bi-annual retreat designed to bring prisoners into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.  In addition parishioners assist with weekly bible studies and weekly visits.  Please contact the Church office for more information or www.kairosprisonministry.org.

Interfaith Community Services

Closer to home Resurrection has partnered with Interfaith Community Services in Escondido to assist the hungry and homeless in North County.  Our ministry with Interfaith includes weekly “bread runs” to local stores and bakeries for donated day old bread which is used at the daily dinners and sack lunches provided by Interfaith.  In addition the men of Resurrection go to Interfaith on the third Saturday of the month to cook and serve breakfast to some forty homeless veterans participating in the transitional housing program of Interfaith.  For more information contact the church office or go to www.interfaithservices.org.
